National award-winning illustrator: illustrations for the book "A Garden of Wildflowers" won the Garden Writers of America 1st Place award for book illustration. The artwork samples in this portfolio range from rich and vibrant colored pencil drawings for trade books, pen and ink drawings, watercolors, and Photoshop illustrations created for print and the web.
"A Garden of Wildflowers: 101 Native Species and How to Grow Them" was
a wildflower gardening book for which I was contracted as the illustrator. I also requested and was approved to do
the design of the wrap around cover. I did the typesetting, color specifying and illustration for the cover,
as well as the internal illustrations.
The cover illustration was created using Berol Prisma Color colored pencils. The interior 101 full page
illustrations were done with an extra-fine-nibbed crowquil pen and India ink, with stippled shading.
Cover of book dust jacket. I did both the book design and the book illustrations. Illustrations -- colored pencil.
This is the back of the dust jacket.
