With today's technology, you can have a web site with features that flash, swoop, tap dance and blare music -- but that doesn't necessarily mean that all of it is a good idea. Careful thought and planning, more than bells and whistles, will give you a web site that gives your site viewers efficient access to the information they seek, ensuring that they stay longer and hear what you have to say. Hyla Skudder Design specializes in clean, efficient but visually rich web designs, for businesses and individuals.
This was a web site redesign project.
Dr. Tikson wanted a new site design that better reflected the warm and friendly atmosphere of her
practice. She wanted to show her actual staff and patients on the site rather than stock photos where possible,
so I supervised a professional on-site photo shoot. Dr. Tikson also wanted to reflect the colors and artwork
from her office in the site design, so these details were worked into every page to add visual richness.
Former web site home page.
The former Tikson dental website was a content management arrangement that had an awkward look.
The new site was built in MS Expression Web (hand-coded XHTML and CSS) as a contract designer with Franklin Computer Services.
The new home page design. This featured the exterior window of Dr. Tikson's office with a painterly treatment. A short series of photos rotated in the "window" space to create an inviting atmosphere and represent different groups of patients at the practice.
The "Meet Dr. Tikson" page showing Dr. Tikson and her father who started the family dental practice.
The "About" page of the new site with the staff photo.
The "Appointments" page with a smiling receptionist photo.
The "Contact Us" page with an embedded map and photos of the interior and exterior of the office.
The "Emergencies" page.
The "Services" page showing Dr. Tikson and a hygienist working with a young patient.
